PETRICHORIC

something to live by.

  • my name (and a bunch of other stuff)

Petrichor: the name of the scent of rain on dry earth

When its pouring out, I love sticking my head outside a window and taking a deep breath. It’s really calming. (I added an -ic at the end because petrichor was taken…)

Honestly, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to write here but my sister told me this morning that I need to find something I like doing. (I objected to that; she told me watching TV didn’t count.) She suggested to try writing because I’m a decent writer (at least I would like to think that) and it’s a past-time that “betters yourself”. (Another jab at my couch-potato ways…)Wise words, but I wasn’t really in the mood to listen, at least not after she repeatedly called me out on my laziness.

It wasn’t until I watched an episode of Arthur (remember that show?) which was only on my iPod because it was a free download (and truthfully, I’m a closet-Arthur-fan… shhh) did I take her words to heart.

It was an episode that featured Neil Gaiman, the author. (I’m sort of ashamed to say I didn’t know who he was until Coraline was mentioned.) He was encouraging Sue Ellen to keep on writing, no matter what her friends thought of her work. That kind of hit me right over the head, cause honestly that was something that kept me from writing before.

So here I am, making a tumblr and, well, writing. And I’m happy to say that tomorrow, which is a Friday (goodness, I love Fridays), I’m going out after school to buy a journal so that I can write, even if my computer isn’t in front of me.

Oh and a quick disclaimer: My grammar isn’t the best (nor is my spelling, sentence structure, etc.).

    Love, Petrichoric
